Hosting

The website runs on a server operated by hosting-owl.de, the controller’s sole proprietorship. No data are passed on to other companies in the process.

Server log files

Each time a page is accessed, the web server automatically stores information transmitted by your browser:

  • IP address,
  • date and time of access,
  • page or file accessed and amount of data transferred,
  • browser type and version, operating system,
  • the previously visited page (referrer), if transmitted,
  • HTTP status code.

These data are needed to deliver the website and to ensure its security. The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR; the legitimate interest lies in secure and error-free operation. The log files are deleted automatically after 7 days unless they are needed for longer to investigate a specific security incident. They are not combined with other data.

Visitor statistics

This website counts how often its pages are accessed and distinguishes between people and automated programs (bots). The result is public in the visitor statistics. Counting takes place exclusively on this website’s own server, without cookies and without third-party services.

  • Bots are recognised by the server from the identifier your browser sends (user agent). The identifier itself is not stored, only the category (for example “Googlebot”).
  • One-time number: Every other request receives a random number, which is built into the page together with a small script (zaehler.js). As soon as you interact with the page (scroll, tap, move the mouse), the script sends the number back to the server once; the request then counts as a person. If no response arrives, the request counts as “Without JavaScript (unidentified)” after 30 minutes. In both cases the number is deleted. The script reads nothing from your device and stores nothing on it.
  • Visits: To count different visitors on a given day, the server creates a shortened checksum (hash) from the IP address, the browser identifier and a random daily value when the page is requested. The IP address itself is never stored. If the request is confirmed as a person, the checksum is kept until the following day; otherwise it is deleted together with the number after 30 minutes at most. The daily value and the checksums are deleted on the following day; after that, no request can be attributed to a person.
  • Totals only: What remains are daily figures, which are combined into monthly totals after 30 days and into annual totals after just over a year. They have no connection to individual persons.

The legal basis is the legitimate interest in understanding the use of this website and showing it publicly (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). Consent under § 25 TDDDG (German Telecommunications Digital Services Data Protection Act) is not required, because nothing is stored on or read from your device for the count.

Objection: You can object to the counting at any time (Art. 21 GDPR). If you switch off JavaScript in your browser, you are counted neither as a person nor as a visitor; your checksum is then deleted after 30 minutes at most without ever being included in the visitor count. The website also works without JavaScript. Because no one can be identified, an individual request cannot subsequently be attributed to you or deleted (Art. 11 GDPR). You can, however, write at any time.

Cookies, fonts and external content

This website does not set any cookies.

Only if you change a setting via the “Adjust display” button at the bottom left – such as the font size – is this choice saved in your browser’s local storage so that it applies on all pages. It does not leave your device and is not transmitted to the server. “Reset” deletes it. The legal basis is § 25(2) no. 2 TDDDG, because the storage is strictly necessary for the function you have requested.

Fonts, images and scripts are loaded exclusively from this server. No content from other providers is embedded, such as from Google, social media services or video platforms.

Links to other websites, for example to Wikipedia or Wikimedia Commons, are opened only when you click them. The privacy policy of the respective provider then applies.

Your rights

You have the right to information about your stored data (Art. 15 GDPR), to rectification (Art. 16), erasure (Art. 17), restriction of processing (Art. 18) and to object to processing (Art. 21). To exercise these rights, please contact the address given above.

You can also lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority. The competent authority is the State Commissioner for Data Protection and Freedom of Information of North Rhine-Westphalia (LDI NRW).
